Launching on Restart a Heart Day, Thursday 16 October, Top End listeners have the chance to win a life-saving AED and CPR training course, thanks to St John NT’s giveaway in partnership with Mix104.9.

  • Giveaway launch: Restart a Heart Day, Thursday 16 October
  • Winner announced: Thursday 31 October, live on Mix104.9
  • Prize: St John G5 AED and CPR training course (valued at over $2,500)
  • Purpose: Improve AED access in the community and encourage more Territorians to learn CPR
  • For entry details, tune in to Mix104.9 from 16 October 2025.
  • St John NT is also offering 10% off eligible AEDs and CPR training courses from 16 October to 16 November 2025 with code “RESTART”.

The prize will be going to a home, workplace, or community group, giving some very lucky Territorians the tools and skills to make a real difference in an emergency.

St John NT Director Commercial Services, Colin Southam, said:

“AEDs save lives, but they only work if people know where they are and how to use them. This giveaway is a simple way to get a life-saving device into the hands of Territorians, and to remind everyone that AEDs and CPR skills are vital.”

Each year, more than 26,000 Australians suffer a sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital, and every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces survival by up to 10 per cent.

A recent national survey by St John Ambulance Australia found that while 67 per cent of people say they would be confident performing CPR, only 19 per cent feel very confident. It also found that those trained in the past year felt far more ready to act.

“CPR is a skill everyone should learn, and AEDs are designed to be simple to use,” Mr Southam said.

To help more Territorians access lifesaving tools and skills, St John NT are also offering 10% off eligible AEDs and CPR training with the code “RESTART” until 16 November.

St John NT CEO Andrew Tombs added, “The more people who know what to do, and the more AEDs we have available in the community, the stronger our chances of saving a life”.

“St John NT wants Territorians to feel confident that they have the tools and skills needed to help in an emergency,” Mr Tombs said.

St John NT continues to improve AED access across the Territory, with its Heart Grant program recently placing an additional 50 public-access devices with community groups, not-for-profits and sporting clubs.

The Restart a Heart AED giveaway runs from 16 October, and includes a St John G5 Fully Automatic Defibrillator with CPR Feedback and CPR training course, valued at over $2,500.
