Committed to best practice in mental health

Our Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025–28 sets a clear framework to protect and promote the psychological health and wellbeing of our people, recognising the unique and cumulative impacts of emergency and community health work, including exposure to trauma, fatigue and psychosocial risk.

Informed by workforce consultation, psychosocial risk assessment and national evidence, including Beyond Blue’s Answering the Call study, which found emergency services workers experience more than twice the rate of high or very high psychological distress compared to the general population, the strategy embeds prevention, early intervention and accessible support into everyday organisational practice. Through practical actions across the employee lifecycle, it supports a safe, engaged and sustainable workforce now and into the future.

For the service of humanity

Our 2025-30 Strategic Plan sets a framework for the sustainability and development of our organisation. Developed on a model of Objectives and Key Results, the plan sets out measurable goals and results aimed at achieving significant milestones to support our commitment to save lives and build resilience in our community while working towards a vision of positive healthcare outcomes for Territorians.

The plan has been developed following a business review and consultation with staff, the Executive Leadership Team and the St John NT Board. As a for-purpose organisation, and a member of the Federation of St John Australia, we remain faithful to the core function of the Order of St John for the service of humanity, while ensuring we can support sound governance, financial sustainability as well as effective and relevant service delivery.
