It is with deep sadness that St John NT shares the passing of our esteemed member and friend, Patrick Murray CStJ, who passed away yesterday, Friday 4th July 2025.
Patrick was born on 8 April 1943 and joined St John NT on 21 September 1992. Over more than 30 years, he became a cornerstone of our organisation — known for his dedication, humility, and service.
He was the first paid Clinic Bus Officer (later Patient Transport Officer), led the Darwin Adult Division from 1998 to 2001 and volunteered hundreds of hours each year supporting public duties and mentoring new members. He also served as Logistics Territory Officer and played key roles at major events including V8 Supercars, Bass in the Grass, Investitures, and Cadet Competitions.
Patrick trained and led the Colour Party for over a decade, taking great pride in every detail. He was also instrumental behind the scenes at national events such as the 2013 Convention and the 2014 Cadet Camp.
Recognised within the Order, Patrick was made a Member in 2001, promoted to Officer in 2009, and Commander in 2019. These honours reflect a lifetime of outstanding service.
We all remember his tea making, he will also be remembered for his leadership, warmth, and the lasting impact he had on generations of volunteers.
On behalf of the Board, our Executive, all staff and volunteers we extend our deepest condolences to his family.
In Patrick’s memory, let's raise a cup of tea in his honour — a simple gesture for someone who gave so much and always found time for others.
