Volunteers set to get ‘Wicked’ upgrade thanks to community raffle

St John NT’s signature green uniforms are set for a ‘Wicked’ upgrade, with volunteers across the Territory set to benefit from a community fundraiser inspired by the hit musical.

From community events to emergency responses, St John NT volunteers’ first aid support is a constant presence. They’re known not just for their green uniforms, but for stepping in when Territorians need help.

But behind the scenes, many are working in uniforms that have seen better days.

Director of Volunteer Event Health Services Mark Ferguson said replacing well-worn gear will make a ‘Wicked’ difference on the ground.

“Volunteers spend long hours on their feet, in the scorching sun. Having the right gear helps them perform at their best and be easily identified when people need help,” he said.

Wicked is about the difference people make in each other’s lives and that’s exactly what our volunteers are out there doing every day.”

In a nod to the film’s message about creating positive change, funds raised through the 2026 ‘Wicked’ Raffle will go directly towards replacing tired uniforms, ensuring volunteers can continue their work in comfort and confidence.

The raffle features more than $5,000 worth of prizes and will be drawn at a special screening of Wicked at Darwin Deckchair Cinema on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

Mr Ferguson said the initiative gives Territorians a simple way to support the volunteers who regularly support them.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to give back and be part of something that directly supports our volunteers,” he said.

Raffle tickets are $5, with prizes including a Paspaley pearl bracelet valued at more than $1,000 and an Offshore Boats full-day charter experience.
