Alice Springs successfully defended their title of Northern Territory Adult Competition Team champions. This year the team members, Glen Auricht, Amanda McNeill and Geoff Kain, will be heading off the Canberra to compete in the National Adult First Aid Competitions.Competition Manager, Christine Turner again delighted in putting together an interesting and challenging scenario which included a Family Care Scene. Our new golf buggy was the centre of the team scene where one patient had his leg trapped under it, the other was hit with a flying jack handle while another patient had his fingers cut off with a saw. The individual competitors were tested with a Family Care scenario and another where they were faced with three patients – a sprained ankle, angina attack and a laceration to the forearm. Congratulations to Kate Anning for winning the Individual section. A big thank you to Christine Turner for all her work and to Paul Berry for doing the scoring sheets. Thank you also to the adjudicators, time keepers, patient, cas team and everyone else who participated in the day. Thank you to Claire Chandler for being the run through Individual. It was very disappointing to see so few competitors this year. A lot of work goes into preparing for the competitions and every adult division should be entering a team. It is a terrific way to train members and the winners then have the chance to attend the National Conference and compete in the National First Aid Competitions. Get your teams together now and start training for next year. The adult competitions are held in March or April each year.
