St John NT is encouraging recent patients to share their experience, with the national Patient Experience Survey now underway across the Northern Territory.
1,500 surveys have been issued to randomly selected patients and will soon arrive in mailboxes across the Territory.
The survey comes as demand for ambulance services continues to rise.
In the 2024-25 financial year, St John NT answered 101,000 Triple Zero (000) calls, cared for 56,000 patients and transported 44,000 people to hospital.
Each year, St John NT takes part in the Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) Patient Experience Survey to understand whether care is meeting patient expectations and how experiences compare across ambulance services nationally.
St John NT CEO Abigail Trewin said direct patient feedback is critical to improving care.
“The CAA Patient Experience Survey is one of the most important ways the service hears from the people we care for,” she said.
“As pressure on the system grows, this feedback helps pinpoint what’s working and where change may be needed.”
“Patient insight plays a key role in shaping how we deliver care, particularly as we work to strengthen the system to meet the needs of Territorians.”
Why it matters
Feedback from the CAA Patient Experience Survey helps St John NT:
- Understand what matters most to patients during their care
- Identify where improvements are needed
- Inform service planning and future investment
Survey responses also contribute to a national report, allowing ambulance services to compare performance and learn from each other.

Surveys have been sent recent patients, selected at random.
It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and can be done online or by returning the reply paid paper form.
