St John NT appoints new Director Ambulance Services

St John NT CEO Abigail Trewin AM is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Samuel (Sam) Kellick as the new Director Ambulance Services.

Ms Trewin said that following a competitive recruitment process Mr Kellick stood out as an experienced and values-driven leader.

“I am confident he brings the strategic capability and operational insight we need to continue strengthening our service and preparing for the future,” she said.

Mr Kellick joins the Territory’s ambulance service from Hato Hone St John New Zealand, where he was an Operations Manager for Christchurch Metro, leading ambulance operations across a large metropolitan and rural district. He has over 15 years’ experience across ambulance operations, communications centres, and holds a Master of Business Administration.

“Importantly, Sam shares our commitment to delivering patient-centred care. I look forward to his leadership in further building workforce capability, strengthening clinical governance, and advancing a Just Culture approach across our service.

“His fresh perspective will be a valuable addition as we continue to evolve and improve,” Ms Trewin added.

“I’m really looking forward to working alongside the St John NT team to deliver high-quality ambulance services across the Territory. The opportunity to support both patient care and our people in such a unique environment is something I’m genuinely excited about,” Mr Kellick said.

Mr Kellick joins the St John NT team today and will be based at the Casuarina headquarters, he leads a workforce of over 300 paramedics, call takers and support staff and will be instrumental in implementing system improvements and delivering the ambulance service across the Northern Territory.
