St John NT Chair, Peter Carew AM MStJ has welcomed two new members to the St John NT Board at its Annual General Meeting held at its Casuarina Headquarters last night.
Mrs Teresa (Terri) Hart PSM and Dr Felix Ho have joined the not-for-profit board bringing with them a wealth of experience across business, governance and medicine as well as a deep understanding of the Northern Territory and the Order of St John.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Terri and Felix to the Board, their combined skills and knowledge will be an asset to St John NT as we plan for the future and take on many of the challenges facing the healthcare industry and not-for-profit sector,” Mr Carew said.
Terri Hart is a business consultant and former Northern Territory and federal public servant of nearly 40 years. Her experience includes corporate and human services, audit and risk, project management, corporate and public communications, strategic planning and operations. Terri has also held leadership positions in political offices in the Northern Territory.
Dr Felix Ho is a medical practitioner with a rich understanding of St John, working also as a casual Intensive Care Paramedic and serving as the National Youth Officer for St John Ambulance Australia. Dr Ho first joined St John as a cadet fostering an ongoing passion for healthcare.
Mr Carew also acknowledged the work of outgoing Board members Mr Roland Chin AM KStJ and Mrs Terri-Ann Maney MStJ.
“I would like to thank Roland and Terri-Ann who have generously devoted years of their time and knowledge to St John. They have been outstanding advocates for our organisation with a passion for the Territory and the wellbeing of our communities, staff and volunteers.”
Mr Carew reported that St John NT had continued to operate over the last financial year under challenging conditions while responding to increased demand.
“Despite these challenges, our staff and volunteers have continued to deliver excellent service and care, something for which they should all be commended. Every individual in this organisation contributes to our goals, especially the availability of first aid care in the Territory.
“The results from the 2024 Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) Patient Experience Survey are testament to the commitment and dedication that all staff at St John NT invest in our service with the NT’s results some of the best in the country in many of the ratings,” he said.
On their appointments, Mrs Hart said, “St John values are reflective of my own and I welcome this opportunity to give something back to the Territory and to such a highly respected and valued organisation.”
Dr Ho added, “I thoroughly believe in the ethos and work of the Order of St John and look forward to contributing back to the organisation through involvement as a Board member to assist with governance and strategic direction of the organisation.”
