St John NT has stepped up its recruitment to regional and remote locations in the NT in order to bolster its services and support crews.
The recruitment drive will target qualified and intern paramedics from across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
St John NT Director Ambulance Services Andrew Thomas acknowledged that recruitment in the industry has been challenging.
“We are continuing to see recruitment and movement of paramedic staff across the services in Australia. Our plan is to offer paramedics a chance to expand their clinical practice while enjoying everything the Territory has to offer.
“Working in the NT presents a once-in-a-life-time opportunity, even for just a couple of years, the experience gained in the NT can lay the foundations for an extraordinary career.”
St John NT is currently experiencing staff shortages in Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek and is providing support and coverage to the remote locations through short term secondments of staff from other locations. While the model maintains the service in the locations St John NT is keen to recruit and retain staff to build capacity and resilience in these communities.
Recruitment into these locations includes additional incentives such as housing, relocation allowances and remote area allowances.
“St John NT is very serious about ongoing service delivery to all locations across the NT and we are working hard to improve our recruitment and retention of staff to deliver this care,” said Mr Thomas.
The latest recruitment drive has positions available in the Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.
