COVID-19 Advice No. 4
  16 Apr 2020

Over the past four weeks, St John NT has implemented a number of changes to its operations and services in response to COVID-19. During this time of rapid change and uncertainty, we have continued to put the needs of the community first and are pleased to be able to offer the following services to promote the health and well-being of all Territorians.

First Aid Supplies

St John NT has received numerous requests for specific protective gear and sanitation supplies. To accommodate the needs of all Territorians, our retail stores will be stocking a wide range of supplies from masks to surface wipes. We are now accepting pre-orders and will have some stocks available for pick-up as early as Friday, 1 May. Information regarding these products can be found here.

If you are interested in an item that is not included on this list, please contact our retail team at sales@stjohnnt.asn.au. We will do our best to supply all requests.

First Aid Training

HLTAID001 Provide CPR – Online and 1 hour face to face

Price: $85 per person

This CPR course is designed for students updating previously gained skills and is ideal for individuals who work from home, are isolated to their workplace, or have time constraints, and are able to complete required study before attending. It allows them to complete all theory learning online before attending a short assessment to demonstrate competency.

Students will be assessed one on one with a trainer, allowing for only one student at a time to complete the course. Each assessment session will run for one hour, allowing us to deliver multiple sessions in a day.

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid - Online and 2 hours face to face.

Provide First Aid Assessment Only is ideal for individuals who work from home, are isolated to their workplace, or have time constraints, and are able to complete required study before attending. It allows them to complete all theory learning online and attend a short assessment to demonstrate competency.

Students will be assessed one on one with a trainer allowing for only one student at a time to complete the course. Each assessment session will run for two hours, allowing us to deliver multiple sessions in a day if required.

Mechanical Workshop

Community Education

Our Community Education team is now offering non-accredited, online first aid lessons that are open to anyone who would like to refresh or stay on top of their first aid skills.

The next scheduled first aid session is the Baby and Child Program on Wednesday, 22 April from 10am until noon. This session is designed for parents and carers interested in learning life-saving first aid skills for children. Registration is free, but interested participants must sign up via our event page to gain online access. Additional sessions will be posted on the events page and social media as they become available. If you have any questions, please contact communityeducation@stjohnnt.asn.au.

Cadets & Volunteers

With fewer community events, our volunteers have been using this time to fine-tune their existing first aid techniques and learn exciting new skills. Between online division nights, the Ambulance Assist program, and virtual Cadet competitions, our volunteers are as busy as ever!

Are you interested in joining our volunteer team? Please visit our website or contact volunteers@stjohnnt.asn.au.

We need your support now more than ever

As a self-funded charitable organisation, all funding for our volunteer programs is raised through donations and commercial activities within the St John NT business including first aid training, the sale of first aid equipment, restocking and the consumer division of St John NT’s mechanical workshop. This year however, due to the national escalation of the response to COVID-19, St John NT’s business revenue to support its volunteer program will suffer a tragic loss.

Our volunteers are a valuable resource to the Territory, both in emergency situations and during community events. If you are able, we ask that you please consider making a donation to support our volunteers.

Thank you for your continued support of St John NT.
