COURSE OUTCOME:

Successful completion of this course will provide participants with skills and knowledge that will enable them to sustain life, reduce pain and minimise the consequences of injury or sudden illness until professional help arrives.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

The course is aimed at:

  • Persons undertaking electrical work such as those working on power lines and in low voltage switchboard situations.
PRE-REQUISITES:

Nil

TIMES:

Nominal hours = 6. Course times will be advised at the time of booking.

VENUE:
Public Courses - Advised in your confirmation letter.
Private Courses - You will be advised by your employer
DRESS:
Due to the nature of practical exercises skirts or dresses are not considered appropriate.
MEALS:
St John venues provide coffee, tea, a fridge and a microwave oven.
YOU SHOULD BRING:
Notebook
Pen/Pencil
A light jacket if you get cold in air conditioning.
STUDENT PACK:

All necessary resources will be issued on the day.

ASSESSMENT:

Assessment will include: practical skill scenarios and theory assessment comprising multichoice and short answer questions.

CPR must be effectively demonstrated and assessed on an adult manikin on the floor. Infant CPR can be assessed on a firm surface.

Participants with literacy/numeracy difficulties or physical ailments/conditions should speak with the Trainer to discuss alternative approaches.

PLEASE NOTE:

St John-NT is concerned for your safety and well being. Intending participants should be aware this course requires them to undertake strenuous physical activity to meet all assessment criteria to a satisfactory level. Those who have a pre-existing condition or otherwise sustain an injury prior to the training’s commencement MUST contact St John-NT to defer their training until such time as their condition is rectified.

PRIVACY STATEMENT:
  1. You will be asked to complete an Enrolment Form at the commencement of this program.
  2. The information we collect is used for statistical reporting to the Australian Skills Quality Authority If your course has been paid for by a third party (employer, employment agency) attendance details and a copy of your final credential will be made available to that party.
  3. St John (NT) may also use this information to contact you at the time your qualification is about to expire to remind you of the need to arrange to have it updated.
  4. If you do not wish to be contacted when your qualification is due for renewal please indicate in the space allocated on the Statistics Form.

IDENTIFICATION

In order to comply with Standard 1.8 of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Standards for the Continuing Registration of a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), it is necessary to confirm the identification of all participants in accredited training to ensure that the person providing assessment evidence (the learner), is the person who is enrolled and is subsequently issued the Statement of Attainment/Qualification. Evidence that this process is in place must be available.

Please bring some form of photographic identification to your course.
