In some cases (industry dependant), support for communication consult policy, casualty care procedures and/or protocols, contained in this program will be required from the designated Site Medical Officer (a Doctor). Many of the drugs used during this program are used only for ‘example’ purposes and their use outside of the classroom does not infer their acceptance ‘on-site’. | People and groups who should consider this level of first aid training are those who: | - have a specific ‘site’ advanced casualty care responder function/role
- are members of ‘site’ emergency response teams
- are formally responsible for a site first aid response
- wish to achieve further skills which may aid toward future employment
- are interested in helping to promote the health and well being of their workplace community
| | Pre-Entry Standard: | An Occupational First Aid credential or recognised equivalent, achieved within the last 3 years (strictly applied) | The training will assist learners to: <> - Safely carry out advanced care skills using a range of equipment
- Document first aid responses
- Consult and coordinate with site medical officers
- Critically analyse self for ongoing personnel and job role development purposes >
> Topics include: Advanced airway management including endotracheal intubation; intravenous cannulation; drug administration; suturing & wound dressing; defibrillation; advanced patient management procedures; anatomy & physiology; body systems; psychology of patient care; casualty records; medical consultations; casualty handover | - This program is delivered over 80 hours (2 consecutive weeks, weekends free)
- Does not intend to infer individual, non-consultative operations
- Extensive theoretical background information forms an integral component of the Industrial Paramedic program
