I joined St John as a volunteer in 2007. I was at a stage in my life when I could give some time to myself and was looking around for a way to do some community service.

My daughter, Kiran, had been a cadet (and is now an adult member) so I already had an association with St John and decided it was the right organisation to join.

I had no idea that I would become so involved with providing aid to seriously injured people. My previous contact with St John through cadets led me to believe that most of the volunteer work consisted of giving drinks of water to children and old ladies and handing out the occasional band aid. After doing public duties at motor sports and being called out on the Community Service Volunteer Ambulance in Humpty Doo I now know that is not the case.

I love volunteering for St John and, along with meeting a great new circle of people, I have been so impressed with the training opportunities available. I recently completed my Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment all sponsored by St John.

I have found it to be such a great organisation to join and would recommend you come along to a meeting and join us.
