Nhulunbuy St John Ambulance Volunteers has a cadet division that has approximately 14 cadets for the Gove division and 8 cadets for the Yirrakala division. Mandy Paradise is the cadet Superintendent for the region. Mandy has two wonderful adult volunteers that also help out with cadets. Gove cadets do a variety of things from classroom learning of 1st aid skills to helping the adult member’s man public duties. Our cadets have a lot of fun whilst learning valuable life saving skills that will benefit them long into the future.
The adult division has grown considerably from 2009-2010 with 10 new members. The superintendent for adult division is Mark Ferguson. We have a great time together learning and assisting the community of Gove and surrounding area. The adult volunteers in Gove volunteer their time not only for our ever growing number of public duties but also on the ambulance (once they are competent 1st responders). We are also getting a social club up and running for the adult division in 2010. So we are certainly not all about work and no play we love to socialize together as well and are one big family.
So if you want to learn life saving skills whilst being a part of a great team of people then St John Nhulunbuy is where you want to be every Tuesday night.
