What’s been happening in Katherine you might ask? WELL!!!! Last Thursday night was the start of the driving and vehicle maintenance course (for the naive and I am one of them): HLTAMBT301A and HLTAMBT402B. This course will be run by Craig Garraway over a number of weeks, approximately 3 weeks apart, up to and including August. A huge thank you to Craig who has volunteered his own time to help make this happen, from all the crew here at Katherine. The night was spent on the theoretical side of driving an ambulance on code’s 1 and 2, including some very informative and at times thought provoking videos. The Volunteers were issued with their driving log books to help get them started on their hours of driving, and the quote that came to mind....(if I were part of the crew on shift ) was from a Harry Potter movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, from the shrunken head in the double-Decker bus..... “You’re going to be in for a bumpy ride....hahaha”. I am sure that at the end of the course and with Craig’s guidance that won’t be the case. Next Thursday we have the wonderful opportunity of having Trevor Ketch, one of our well known paramedics taking us all through the module on “the fibril child”. Duty wise, it has been a tad slow, as we were able to have a night off on Friday night from the football. As they are nearing the end of their competition, they had a rest night. However this little break will be short lived, as I took a quick peek at Steve’s diary and it is starting to fill with upcoming duties, including rodeos, motor cross, school AFL tournaments, netball carnivals, and polocrosse matches, to name but a few. All I see in front of us all is “Exciting times” ahead. Article by |
