The very last meeting of the year before I went on Holidays I went along to a Cadet meeting to see if I could help out in any way.

20100218_Kath_Cad As it was the closing of the year we talked in general of what we wanted to do the following year in regards to the Cadet Proficiency badge. Superintendent Natalie Clarke, along with the cadets decided after having such an intense year of completing their Heritage badge they would like to do something close to nature and a little more relaxing. As I returned in the New Year to their first meeting we had settled on completing our Campcraft badge.

The second night Katherine cadets were back we had bring a friend night, in which we had several new faces come along and join in the fun. The cadets started the night with a bit of drill practice to show their friends all sides of joining, then they read the code of Chivalry. Something which I have never been part of and enjoyed listening to, and reflected on how the Code of Chivalry is an unpracticed Code that should be thought of and used more readily in today’s society as a whole.

After business side of the meeting was over we got stuck into the first Topic and we are already full steam ahead and rearing to go camping and have lots of fun to achieve our final goal in completing the proficiencies.

I can’t wait for next meeting when we start Module 2 and Module 5 in the Preliminary First Aid Re– Accreditation book. As most modules this year will be needed at a camp site to do our Campcraft badge we will be go go go until then, I never knew cadets could be so much fun…

I wish I knew about cadets when I was their age. TTFN (ta ta for now).
