The volunteers made a great turn out when cyclone Paul was threatening to arrive at our doorstep. We had all our volunteers able and ready to respond if needed. The support was overwhelming and was great to see. All the volunteers over in Nhulunbuy were on standby for 4 days. It was great to see a small town like Nhulunbuy could show so much commitment. Well done to all the volunteers. We also recently had an airport emergency, which found the volunteers over in Nhulunbuy texting and ringing their availability to attend the airport if needed. It was great to get that amount of support. Our training nights have been very informative and on the 13th April we did a lesson on the heart. We were able to get hearts from our local butchers and cut them up. The volunteers were deeply interested in this lesson. We have three more scenarios to go through until we are able to sign off the whole re-accreditation booklet. Soon we will be done, which is great. We also have a big scenario night planned with the Fire Department. Every two weeks we give the Nhulunbuy volunteers our own local newsletter called the Nhulunbuy Review. It is a great way to get all our messages and public duties out to all our volunteers. All the volunteers are emailed this newsletter and find it quite informative. Kylie Newport does a great job in trying to get it out in time. Thank you Kylie for your support in this matter.
