Teddy Bears Picnic

On 27th October we were invited to attend the Teddy bears’ picnic at the Lyons Park. 20091119_NHU

What a great day we had. For those of you not there we had Pooh Bear, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

Kids were able to climb into and out of the Ambulance and also place bandages and bandaids onto Poo bear and friends.

Kids were given a bandaid when they came up to the Ambulance.

The only treatment required was when one little girl’s teddy bear fell and bumped her head so we had to put a bandage around that teddy bear’s head.

Other activities for the kids included story time, making a paper bag, making a picture out of coloured rice, riding bikes, using a fire hose and interacting with other children. There were a lot of people there and it was fun, with free sausages and popper drinks for all to enjoy.

It was a huge success.

Apply Advanced First AidADSCF1816

On the 31st October and 1st November Christine Turner and Geoff Lohmeyer came over to deliver the Applied Advance First Aid course with Bertha, Phil, Kylie, Mandy, Mark, Libby, Rhian and Teresa attending.

We went through oxygen, airways, ‘C’ collars, intra muscular injections, drugs and other treatments. Everyone joined in and helped with the scenarios. Then there were the two exams.

First day we had sandwiches and biscuit. The next day we had fruit cake and sandwiches again. It was a great weekend enjoyed by all.
