Nhulunbuy – A week in review (26th August 2009) PDF Print E-mail

It started on Tuesday 18th August when we were asked if we could cover the School Touch. Mark Ferguson and Mandy covered the four day event. The first day was slow and we did not see anyone, but we got the same 20090827_NHU_Reviewquestions as everyone normally gets when you cover a football game: “do you have any muscle cream”, “can you strap my ankle” so on and so on.

Wednesday 19th was very busy with 9 people treated. Thursday 20th was a very long day as this was 13 hours; during the night Teresa (new Adult Volunteer) gave us a hand for a couple of hours. We treated at least 4 people. On the last day, Friday 21st, we treated 5 people. After sticking around for 8 hours there was a closing ceremony, and St John Ambulance Volunteers were presented  with a special thanks.

Mandy then went on to another duty, which was the BMX on Friday night with two cadets, Ky and Jonathon. They treated 3 people and none were taken to hospital. We are glad that this week is over as it was a busy one.
