A big Welcome back to everyone for 2010.

And what a welcome back we got on the Australia Day weekend out at Deep Well Station for our first duty of the year and the 32nd running of the Deep Well Moto X Enduro. Vollie News 04 Feb 20107

Along with 85 riders & their entourages we drove an hour south of town, 47 degrees was the unofficial temperature for the day, although the riders will tell you it was probably 75 coming off the red sand. As you can see from the photos some of the competitors even bought their own generators to run fans, air conditioners and somehow managed to bring wading pools! Surprisingly in the heat, the majority of the competitors need congratulating for staying hydrated and managing the day accordingly. (Wheelie bins full of ice water for full body dunking apparently were available…)

We did however transport two patients, to two waiting ambulances meeting up on the old south road. Thank you to Owen Auricht (OIC Kulgera Police) for driving, with the two patients and Kate Anning in attendance which enabled the event to continue whilst Dianne & Deidre held the fort. Some of the injuries included concussion, suspected broken ribs, heat exhaustion & one boy to town with a suspected broken clavicle via private car.

Even though it was darn hot and the flies were extraordinarily welcoming, the racing was fantastic. The 85 competitors included roughly 15 riders of Australia’s best from NSW, QLD, Katherine and Darwin all in town to enjoy Central Australia at its best /worst!
