This week’s story

Well, what a weekend for duties. BMX on Friday night, Sea Breeze Festival on Saturday, and on we went to Mindil beach Sunday.

Vollie News 06 May 2010Palmerston and Katherine got together this weekend and completed several duties in the spirit of good friendship and community spirit between Divisions from down the track.

First Palmerston adults attended the BMX at Palmerston and then met up with Steve and Tarn of Katherine for the next night at Sea Breeze Festival at Nightcliff in Darwin.

Superintendents Angie Butler from Palmerston Adult Division and Steve Rudder from Katherine Adult Division with Tanea and Benny. We then got together for a second night of community activity and went to Mindil Beach. With us was also the Superintendent from Darwin Band Cadets, Narelle McLaughlin and her daughter Sarah.

I got to tell ya, it was great and very happy to be a volunteer.

It was a great night at Mindil. Crowds were very good and for Tanya and Steve it was an opportunity to see how we do things up here in Darwin, from the moment you signed on and checked the vehicle, contact Comms and arrive at the public duty, complete the duty, return to centre, clean the vehicle and sign off from Comms at the end of the night.
