Attended two interesting duties last week:- First was the Darwin Festival SANTOS concert at the Gardens Amphitheatre on Thursday with Les Anson. No people sought treatment however very early in the night a gentleman approached us asking if we had earplugs, he was sitting in a corporate area too near the speakers. Luckily we had some ear plugs in the bag for motor sports use. One of the organisers remarked to us that the sound man had turned the bass level too lower than agreed and he was worried that it may upset peoples pace makers. The balance of the night was spent providing continuous advice on the locations of the toilets. I attempted to take a photograph of Les with Alderman Allen Mitchell but the camera refused to work. Second was the Rotary Club Darwin Rodeo on Friday night with Christine Turner and Mel Peterson. A great night of rodeo action with a junior competitor in the barrel race being the main treatment case. Her large mount (for a small girl) decided after it had gone round all the barrels successfully that as it was a rodeo it should try bucking rather than galloping to the finish line. The girl unfortunately did not hang on for the required eight seconds! After clearing from the rodeo we were sent to the Jingili BMX to treat and transport to RDH a lady, (known to us from the Darwin Turf Club), who had come off her bicycle and suffered a serious fractured wrist. An interesting finish to the night.
