One hundred volunteers and family and friends attended a function at the Palmerston Volunteer Centre on Friday 4th June to meet the Lord Prior Anthony Mellow and Mrs Elizabeth Mellows. The Lord Prior was impressed with the way we celebrate in the Territory with our outdoor barbeque. It was a wonderful dry season evening and sunset which was the perfect setting for our volunteers to share an informal get-together with the highest non-royal member of St John. After meeting and talking with the members and their families he was presented with a number of gifts including a framed photo of the Investiture and Graduation ceremony which he attended last week, a tie, scarf and Territory pins and a book with photos of the Northern Territory.
We would like to express our thanks to the Rotarians, Andrew, Jim, Kim and Jim who provided the delicious barbeque. What a fabulous catering service they are able to provide. Thanks also to the volunteers who helped with the setting up , serving and cleaning. It was a privilege for members to meet the Lord Prior and Mrs Mellows and we appreciated them including the Northern Territory in their trip to Australia.
