Screams, Swerves, Crash! The Senior and Junior cadets begin their cycling/camping trip out to Simpson’s gap. Vollie News 24 Jun 2010 9

Vollie News 24 Jun 2010 8Speeding down a steep hill we round a corner and suddenly, less than a meter in front of us, is the biggest King Brown Snake I’ve ever seen! Fortunately we scared the living daylights out of him; he just about flew off the track he moved so fast to get out of our way!

A bit farther along the track we stop at one of the nice shady picnic stops. Quicker than you can say ‘Crash’ two bikes collide into each other with a big BANG! Everyone is uninjured, everyone that is except for one of the bikes! With seven kilometres still to go we find ourselves stuck with an unrideable bike. Go Geoff Kain! He gives his bike to the cadet, and walks the broken bike the remaining seven kilometres!

By the end of the camp we will all have obtained our camping, cycling, and environmental studies badges.

Vollie News 24 Jun 2010 10Stay Tuned to see what the rest of the camp will brings us.
