Getting Ready

20070605_ASPThe 2007 Finke Desert Race is fast approaching, and the Alice Springs Cadet Division has been working hard at getting its team ready for the big weekend.

The team of senior cadets and adults have been undergoing training in basic first aid skills designed around the typical injuries treated at the Finke Community First Aid Post through to multi casualty MVA’s and Search & Rescue situations.

Sunday, May 20th saw some of the team going through there paces on some old car wrecks located along the Tanami Highway. Equipment familiarization and effective team work was the main aim of this particular exercise.

He's At It Again

20070605_ASP_TCcamp3This time it was Tennant Creek Cadet Division’s turn to survive a weekend camp with Regional Cadet Trainer – Ian McKIE. Along with my wife Barbara [DO Alice Springs Cadets] I travelled to 20070605_ASP_TCcamp0TCK to take members of the Cadet Division to Juno’s Bush Camp for a weekend of first aid and fun. Of course there had to another “Who Dares Wins” and yes, the adults got involved as well.

Thanks To:

  • Matthew for allowing our involvement in the weekend.
  • Marcel for supporting us by doing the shopping and for the running around on Saturday.
  • Barbara for looking after the catering for the weekend.
  • Kevin for supplying the transport for the camp.
  • And last but no means least to all the cadets in TCK for a great weekend; Alannah, Nicole, Arnaka, Rachel, Tori, Sheridan, Bobby, Aaron & Michael

Congratulations to: Alannah and Nicole for your great efforts as NCO’s; your help throughout the camp was tremendous and greatly appreciated.
