Been a long time, at least it seems like it. Haven’t done this since before Freds Pass Show.
Which reminds me, thanks for all the help at that event. It is very encouraging to see such great teamwork emerge when needed. For all the extra help I still felt a bit seedy at the end.
After that there was the Merrepen Festival (for me) down at Daly River. Three very full days that were great. Lots of ice packs and a handful of bandaids.
Polocrosse has ramped up and Motocross as well. Robyn and Kay a re getting into the groove with motocross. Need a little more interest in the Polocrosse though Regi from Darwin Division is doing a great job with that.
Then there was the Glenti which was also great though very time consuming. We saw Angie and Benny and Jason from Palmerston give a hand there.
Finally the V8’s. Big job and I thought it went very smoothly. That is from my vantage point snoozing on the hill. I don’t know how many photos Phil Langdon took of me in compromising situations. Got to have lunch in Clare’s tent on the Saturday but couldn’t drink her beer because it was off to the Fannie Bay races with Lyn and Kay at 1430. Missed Holden winning their only race but we had a great time chasing the horsies around the paddock. That was a great experience and Simon and Peter will have a fight on their hands for the next one. Lyn is hooked. I will have to keep a close eye on her.
Back to the V8’s on the Sunday for a full day this time. Still only a little ice and a bandaid or two. Quite well behaved where we were. Good to see another new member make an appearance in Wendy from Band. Welcome to the fray.
Coming up will be the Rally cars though they are running true to form and have delayed putting in their paperwork. They should be at Howard Springs this weekend.
Also this is the last Wednesday of the month and we missed the last visit to the old timers. If you can help out please give it some thought. It involves Blood Pressures, Pulses and sometimes BSL’s while Wednesday Bingo is happening at the Rural old Timers club on Bees Creek Road. Start time is 1000 and lunch is provided. Can usually finish before 1200 but come along anyway.
Special thanks to Lee for getting me out of the house on the odd night and most weekends. There are many other duties this time of year but I can’t bring myself to look at the duty roster this early in the week. Someone else does that and I just say “yes dear”.
PS: Of concern to Humpty Doo are the sporadic sightings of Sgt Payne and Trooper Skinner in a funny shade of green. I suspect they have been "got at". There are rumours that Sgt Payne may have had his brain fried so much that he wants to go back to Tennant Creek. Trooper Skinner has been spotted in Palmerston at 0600 on a Saturday morning looking a bit worse for wear. I feel we may need to mount a rescue mission soon.
