20090918_HD_Week03Been a busy couple of weeks with Go Karts to be looked after and a rodeo 20090918_HD_Week02at Litchfield where a few of us from Humpty Doo managed to congregate. That was Saturday evening and that wound up at about 2130. Barbara and I were also busy trying to get ready for an Advanced Responder Course which popped up in the middle of it all.

Managed a sleep in on Fathers’ Day then went to church and on to relieve Lee at the Go Karts at about 1130. Axl and Aiden were the cadets on duty and we had a little RICE job at the end. Car 107 almost made it back to Humpty Doo when we were asked to go on standby as both Palmerston cars were at an MVA in Berry Springs. Lee and Aiden's mum helped to get the cadets home while I tracked down Barbara and picked her up from Humpty Doo. Had a reasonable rest at Palmerston Centre until the night crews showed up.

As we were about to depart for Humpty Doo and a beer or three, comms asked us so nicely if we could back up a search and rescue at Anabaroo. So off we went. We got to Humpty Doo and were told that the missing person had been found and was inbound to a heliport about 6km on from the Adelaide River Bridge. We continued and picked up a sore and sorry 20090918_HD_Week01patient and transported same to RDH.

Barbara got some great experience tending in the back of car 107 and has a few suggestions for future operations. Beer o'clock ended up being about 2230.

After briefly catching our breath from the previous weekend and spinning all the stories at Divisional Night, Greg and Karina were out at the Motocross on Friday Night. See photo. Thankfully uneventful.20090918_HD_Week00

Saturday was day 1 of the Advanced Responder for Greg and Barbara. It was quite entertaining and informative. Thanks to Christine, Steve from Canberra, Graeme Owen and Geoff Lohmeyer. No doubt there will be another story from that direction.

Afterwards it was off to the big boys’ motocross with Karina again. This was a little more eventful. Many thanks to Sharon from Palmerston and Peter and Simon from Darwin who came to lend a hand. It was a late night as tiredness of the riders produced a few injuries.

Sunday was back to school for Barbara and Greg. Lee and Vanessa had the Rally Cars to look after at Howard Springs. The course was great and Barbara and Greg will be practising their skills on the remainder of the division for the next couple of weeks.
