Will start with weekend 25/26 July. Was a week when the camera stayed home and Benny didn't get a picture of me at the show. I will remember that.
On Thursday Greg and Karina set up the comms for the show and had a quick look around. We then went to Mindil and assisted Henry with that Duty until about 2045.
We heard the show was ok for Friday so we had that one off. Humpty Doo with Barbara and Karina helped look after the Saturday morning at the Royal Darwin Show. Greg was back in later that evening to help pack up.
Sunday was a real funday. Greg had to get out of bed nice and early for the Darwin Runners and Walkers Club half marathon. Came in from Humpty Doo to be at Lake Alexander at 0700. It was good see all those fit people taking on an unusually warm dry season morning. The winner said it was unusually tough with the heat at that time of day. Had the O2 ready but there were no takers.
As that was about to wind up Comms contacted me to see who was looking after Go Karts. I was, but the time was a 1630 start. Correction, they were waiting right now, so off I went to Hidden Valley and managed to get back to Casuarina by about 1630. Said hello! to Lee at Mindil Beach on the way back to Humpty Doo.
The next week we noted on Thursday that no one had volunteered to cover Mindil Beach Markets again. Lee drove the 40Km from Humpty Doo to cover it and got home about 2300.
Saturday was Polocrosse action for Greg, Vanessa, Barbara and Christine. A great turnout! See photos of the FAP with Ozzie and Wilma as well as Isabel and trusty steed Charlie. Lee helped me get away a bit early on that day.
Up right and early on the Sunday to meet Vanessa for Rally Cars again near the Dundee turnoff on Cox Peninsula Rd.
Three rounds of 40 Km which meant that those cars lasted 120Km on those tracks averaging a little under 60Kph. Not many competitors made it to that one, so Vanessa and I were out of there by about 1400.
Home to do a quick turnaround, pick up John and off to Adelaide River to help relieve the Batchelor crew for the Rodeo that night. John was a late entry, but because we could find no
one to give Greg a hand from Darwin we asked Katherine. Geoff and Jodie from Katherine gladly drove the 200km to help out the overstretched Darwin divisions.
Got back about 2300 and John continued into town from Humpty Doo in his car. The cowboys managed to survive that night without enough damage to worry us. Good thing I had Monday off to chill out a bit.
Great new look First Aid Post impressed a few. Thanks to Palmerston and Rural Rotary for the shade.
All in all for the week 28 July to the 4th August, Humpty Doo Adults put in 58 hours serving the public.
