The St John Ambulance (NT) - Training Department, has 3 sections;

  1. Paramedic Training
  2. First Aid training
  3. Training Administration.

Specific qualifications

Paramedic Trainers

Also known as Paramedic Education Officers and are responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of Paramedic Diploma and Advanced Diploma studies as well as some non-formal.

  1. To be eligible for appointment as a Paramedic Education Officer an applicant will;
    1. ideally hold the Advanced Diploma qualification and be considered currently competent at that level
    2. hold the Diploma qualification and be considered currently competent at that level
    3. be a currently practicing Registered Nurse holding a Nursing Degree qualification – post graduate Intensive Care qualifications will be well considered
  2. Applicants must also hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a duly recognised equivalent
  3. The Diploma qualification is the mandatory course of study for all Ambulance Paramedic Officers, while the Advanced Diploma is available to qualified members nominated to proceed to the operational status of Intensive Care Paramedic

First Aid Trainers

Are responsible for the delivery of a range of first aid training programs to members of the general public and to specific (private) customer groups

  1. First Aid Trainers must hold the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training
  2. All other training and development requirements will be provided on-the-job during the induction and Trainer Certification Process

Training Administration

Responsible for the effective and efficient administrative coordination of the Department including, data entry, course registration, bookings, Trainer travel and the generation of specific report training reports

  1. Must be competent in the use of a range of data software or be able to learn new software applications
  2. Be able to offer high levels of customer service

First Aid Training Officer (Part Time)

We welcome enquiries from appropriately qualified people for this role. Part-time Trainers are paid for their training and are generally responsible for the delivery of ‘after-hours’ first aid courses. This may be on: 2 x Saturdays; a Saturday and Sunday; or some other format which meets customer requirements.
