  • As at 01 September, 2006, intending participants are not required to re-qualify in Senior/Apply First Aid prior to completing an Occupational First Aid course.  If you maintain your Occupational First Aid credential you will not need to maintain an Apply First Aid credential, unless you choose to.
  • Should your Occupational First Aid credential ‘lapse’  you will need to meet all pre-entry requirements if you choose to renew it some time in the future.
  • The OFA program will refer to learning which is achieved during the completion of the course pre-entry standard, Apply first aid (or its equivalent).  You will be asked to demonstrate skills or recall knowledge from Apply first aid levels.
  • Due to the nature of practical exercises skirts or dresses are not considered appropriate.

Times: Delivered over 5 days. 8:00am - 4:30 pm.
A lunch break of 45 minutes is programmed daily, lunch will generally be taken sometime between 12:00 midday and 1:30pm

You should bring:
  • Notebook
  • Pen/Pencil
  • The completed workbook (which will be sent to participants prior to course commencement).
  • A light jacket if you get cold in air conditioning
  • Change of clothing and a towel
  • A current Australian First Aid Manual. Note: Participants are strongly encouraged to contact Training Administration to purchase this item (if required).

Assessment:
  • Practical scenarios being conducted throughout the program using of observation checklists
  • Individual and group based desktop/paper activities
  • A supplementary assessment is offered to those learners who do not achieve the minimum pass score

To maintain proficiency and current competence at this level of first aid training, St John (NT) recommends re-validation every 3 years.
