| COURSE OUTCOME: | To introduce participants to the human body, how it works and basic first aid principles. |
| WHO SHOULD ATTEND: | Children aged 9 – 13 years who want to learn about the body and basic first aid. |
| PRE-REQUISITES: | Only available to young people aged between 9 – 13 years. |
| TIMES: | Delivered over one day. 8:30am – 4:00pm |
| VENUE: | Public Courses - Advised in a course confirmation letter. Private Courses - You will be advised by the coordinator. |
| STATISTIC & CONSENT: | Included with this information. Parents/guardians should ensure these forms are completed and returned on the day of the course. |
| DRESS: | Due to the nature of practical activities skirts or dresses are not considered recommended. |
| MEALS: | Not provided. - Participants should bring a packed lunch and some morning/afternoon tea.
- Kitchen facilities including a fridge and microwave oven are available.
- Milo, cordial and fruit will be provided.
- The Consent Form allows the parent or guardian to indicate if the child has permission to leave the building to purchase lunch.
- Supervision is not provided for participants leaving the building leaving at lunch time.
- Vending machine is available (Casuarina only)

| SUPERVISION: | A St John Ambulance (NT) staff member will provide supervision at all times while the young person is on our premises. |
| YOU SHOULD BRING: | A light jacket if you get cold in air conditioning. |
| STUDENT PACK: | Will be issued on the day and includes Emergency First Aid – A quick guide; wallet card; student handouts & promotional materials. |
| ASSESSMENT: | Participants will be observed throughout the day as they practise and demonstrate first aid skills. Participants with literacy/numeracy difficulties or physical ailments/conditions should speak with the Trainer to discuss alternative approaches. Please note: participants should be aware this course requires them to undertake strenuous physical activity to meet all assessment criteria to a satisfactory level. It is advised that intending participants who sustain an injury after the time of booking contact St John-NT to postpone their training |
