COURSE OUTCOME: Participants will develop basic level life support skills to confidently initiate resuscitation procedures in emergency situations.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Homeowners with a swimming pool on their property (or anywhere in the general vicinity), Power/electrical workers, Shopping centre and/or general security personnel, Event (small or larger)staff, Industry employees (all industry), and the general public.
PRE-REQUISITES: Nil
TIMES: Delivered over 3.5 hours.
VENUE: Public Courses - Advised in your confirmation letter.
Private Courses - You will be advised by your employer
DRESS: Due to the nature of practical exercises skirts or dresses are not considered appropriate.
MEALS: At St John venues coffee and tea are provided.
YOU SHOULD BRING:
  • Notebook
  • Pen/Pencil
  • A light jacket if you get cold in air conditioning.
STUDENT PACK: Will be issued on the day and includes: Basic Life Support publication; wallet card; student handouts and promotional materials.
ASSESSMENT: Practical assessment by observation will be undertaken progressively during the program.
Participants with literacy/numeracy difficulties or physical ailments/conditions should speak with the Trainer to discuss alternative approaches.
Please note: participants should be aware this course requires them to undertake strenuous physical activity to meet all assessment criteria to a satisfactory level. It is advised that intending participants who sustain an injury after the time of booking contact St John-NT to postpone their training
PRIVACY STATEMENT:
  1. You will be asked to complete a Statistics Form at the commencement of this program.
  2. The information we collect is used for statistical reporting to the Department of Education and Training.
  3. If your course has been paid for by a third party (employer, employment agency) attendance details and a copy of your final credential will be made available to that party.
  4. St John (NT) may also use this information to contact you at the time your qualification is about to expire to remind you of the need to arrange to have it updated.
  5. If you do not wish to be contacted when your qualification is due for renewal please indicate in the space allocated on the Statistics Form.

CREDENTIAL ISSUED: Statement of Attainment.
NOTE: If you are completing this unit to update an existing credential you will receive a Statement of Proficiency not another Statement of Attainment. The Statement of Proficiency carries recognition where it may be a requirement that an individual maintains ‘current’ first aid competence at this level.
RE-VALIDATION RECOMMENDED: To maintain current competence, St John Ambulance (NT) strongly recommends proficiency is re-validated within 12 months from the date of issue.
