| COURSE OUTCOME: | Participants will develop skills and knowledge necessary to provide first aid response; life support; management of casualty(s); the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance. |
| WHO SHOULD ATTEND: | Those - required by industry to act as First Aid Officers are may be deemed necessary under work health legislation
- who have previously completed a Provide basic emergency life support program (or equivalent) and would like to learn more about first aid
- likely to come across accidents/incidents;
- who wish to learn first aid skills which may useful for employment purposes;
- who are interested in helping to promote health and well being in the community

| PRE-REQUISITES: | Nil |
| TIMES: | - This course is generally delivered over 2 consecutive days, 1 day a week over 2 weeks, a series of weekday evenings, or over weekends. This information (including start and finish times) is contained within the course confirmation letter.
- Where course numbers are restricted to 14 participants the course is completed over 14 nominal hours.
- Where course numbers are between 15 – 20 it is completed over 21 nominal hours (3 days)
- Flexible learning: CD ROM or Learner Guide workbook which incorporates home study prior to attending a 1 day workshop
- Your confirmation letter will confirm the format of your program.

| DRESS: | Due to the nature of practical exercises skirts or dresses are not considered appropriate. |
| MEALS: | St John venues provide coffee, tea, a fridge and a microwave oven. Lunch time is from 12:00 – 12:45pm. |
| YOU SHOULD BRING: | Notebook & Pen/Pencil A light jacket if you get cold in air conditioning. |
| STUDENT PACK: | Will be issued on the day and includes the St John Ambulance Australia, Australian First Aid Manual; wallet card; student handouts; CD ROM and promotional materials. |
| ASSESSMENT: | A 20 question multi-choice assessment will be conducted prior to concluding the course. 3 x Practical scenario assessments (CPR; Bleeding/first aid conditions and Multi Injuries) will be undertaken progressively during the program using checklists and casualty report forms. Participants with literacy/numeracy difficulties or physical ailments/conditions should speak with the Trainer to discuss alternative approaches. Please note: participants should be aware this course requires them to undertake strenuous physical activity to meet all assessment criteria to a satisfactory level. It is advised that intending participants who sustain an injury after the time of booking contact St John-NT to postpone their training |
| PRIVACY STATEMENT: | - You will be asked to complete a Statistics Form at the commencement of this program.

- If your course has been paid for by a third party (employer, employment agency) attendance details and a copy of your final credential will be made available to that party.
- St John (NT) may also use this information to contact you at the time your qualification is about to expire to remind you of the need to arrange to have it updated.
- If you do not wish to be contacted when your qualification is due for renewal please indicate in the space allocated on the Statistics Form.

| CREDENTIAL ISSUED: | Statement of Attainment NOTE: If you are completing this unit to update an existing credential you will receive a Statement of Proficiency not another Statement of Attainment. The Statement of Proficiency carries recognition where it may be a requirement that an individual maintains ‘current’ first aid competence at this level. |
| REVALIDATION RECOMMENDED: | To maintain current competence, St John (NT) strongly recommends proficiency is re-validated within 3 years from the date of issue |
