St John Ambulance NT – Explosion Response Commended PDF Print E-mail

  106935St John Ambulance NT Paramedics were on the scene in just 10 minutes in response to a call for help following an explosion in front of the TIO (Territory Insurance Office) premises in Cavanagh Street at approximately 11am today.

5 St John Ambulances attended the scene with additional resources called in at a moment’s notice to assist with the 107025emergency. 13 casualties were treated at the scene and then transported directly to the Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment. Injuries ranged from minor cuts, to burns and smoke inhalation.

“This incident has really highlighted our ability to respond immediately to events such as this one” said Michael McKay, Director Ambulance Operations NT. “We are so grateful to all paramedic staff that pulled together today, to treat and transport causalities at a moment’s notice. Well done to all involved”.

St John Ambulance NT were attending to 5 other call outs simultaneously to this event, demonstrating their dedication to assisting community in times of great need.
