Initial funding was committed earlier this year, allowing early implementation of a 12 hour ambulance service in Palmerston. However, after further discussions, St John Ambulance NT have been able to secure the Capital component of the funding prior to 30 June and based on this we have sourced and ordered two additional Merc Ambulance vehicles to meet the increasing demand on ambulance and paramedic resources for the area. “St John Ambulance services in the Palmerston area has been experiencing increasing demand on our resources as the population has grown, particularly over the last 12 months” said Mr Ross Coburn, Chief Executive Officer, St John Ambulance Australia NT Inc. “We are grateful for this additional injection of much needed funds from the Northern Territory Government and for bringing the ambulance service to a level which has been identified as vital, for the community of Palmerston” said Mr Coburn. “We now trust we are in a position to provide the required level of service for all Palmerston and beyond residents”.
