First Aid in Schools

header community communityEducation

St John Ambulance NT's free First Aid in Schools program is offered at no cost across the Territory to community and school groups including pre-schoolers, primary schools and middle schools.

First aid is a life skill that gives people the confidence to act in an emergency through practical actions and easy to follow step-by-step plans. Through this program St John Ambulance NT is reaching its goal of making first aid part of every Territorian's life.

Last year alone we taught 10,443 school students across the Territory, equipping them with vital skills to help in an emergency; skills that could save a life.

Ambulance visits
The main focus for any ambulance visit is to teach children to call triple zero (000) in an emergency.

These visits also help them understand why an ambulance comes in an emergency and helps to break down their fear should they ever be in this situation. During an ambulance visit children get to see and explore the ambulance, they learn what a paramedic does and how some of the ambulance equipment is used.

Childcare and early learning centres, please contact us for information on an ambulance visit.
